Spring Cleaning Tips

We cannot believe how quickly Spring is approaching which means one thing: SPRING CLEANING! Spring cleaning is the perfect time to almost start over. Whether mentally or physically, Spring cleaning will get you into a renewed, fresh mindset. For us, our biggest task is cleaning out our closets. Getting rid of clothes is not easy so we have some tips to help you let go.

  1. Ask yourself: Will I wear this in the next six months? If the answer is "No!" then LET IT GO!
  2. If you absolutely can't let your items go, do an experiment to see if you really make use out of every item. Simply buy tags, date them, and tie them to your clothes. Every time you wear an item, update the date. By the end of the year, if your clothes are still tagged with the beginning date, then it's time to give those clothes away.
  3. Have a clothing swap party! Gather your friends and pull out your clothes that you are iffy about keeping. Buy some food and drinks and make a party out of your friend's shopping your closet.
  4. To make more room in your closet, separate your clothes by seasons. Store clothes from the season you're not currently in underneath your bed (Target has some great storage bins!). Out of sight, out of mind, out of the way!
  5. Sell your clothes! If you issue is how much money you've invested in your clothes, then put them up for sale. Consignment shops like Buffalo Exchange will be your best bet. Either that, or take advantage of the app, Offer Up! where you can put your clothes on sale and people can negotiate the price with you.
Good luck and happy spring cleaning!

Secret Beauty Products For Your Face

As we get older, it's becoming more and more important to us to keep our faces looking clean and rejuvenated. While makeup is a great way to mask fine lines and blemishes, the better way to make your skin look flawless is to invest in your SKIN. Skincare is something we have been exploring a lot and Co Founder Sakura has taken a huge liking to the skin care product called Nerium. Nerium has just about everything from a day time moisturizer to a night time moisturizer to even a stretch mark cream. Sakura loves how Nerium reduces the look of her pores and freshens up her face. Karen is loving Celtrixa to treat stretch marks. After just a few months, she can visibly see a reduction in the look of her stretch marks which has been great for her as she prepares for bathing suit season which is around the corner! Karen doesn't recommend buying Celtrixa via their subscription, but rather, just buying it via Amazon.com. We have recently been introduced to some other new products from TSS Reader, Stephanie. Stephanie shared her love for Lush products and considers her skin to be a combo of oily and dry. Her go-to Lush products include: Lush Dark Angels Cleanser,  Lush Imperialis Moisturizer, and Lush Full of Grace Serum. Outside of these products, Stephanie recommends Raw African Black Soap sold by Plant Guru on Amazon (ABS is how it's often abbreviated). Raw African Black Soap is imported from Ghana and is great to use on your face at night as part of your nightly face regimen. Stephanie has seen a tremendous improvement in her skin since using the above products.

The Secret Foods To Help Your Hair Grow Faster

1. Sweet potatoes  2. Yellow Bell Peppers  3. Salmon  4. Avocados

Stock up those foods in your refrigerator and watch your hair grow! One of our favorite Instagram accounts, @Shredz, enlightened us on these important foods to help your hair grow that we just had to share. Shredz puts it all into perspective:

Eat Salmon twice a week. The Vitamin D, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids will contribute to long healthy locks and a hydrated, nourished scalp.

Yellow bell peppers contain 5.5 times more Vitamin C than oranges which is great news for your hair because the antioxidant properties of Vitamin C strengthen hair follicles and prevent hair damage and breakage.

Sweet potatoes are packed with beta carotene, which is a precursor to Vitamin A, a nutrient known to promote hair growth and a healthy scalp.

Avocados can be eaten to gain the benefits of its healthy fats, but it can also be applied to your hair and scalp to stimulate collagen and elastic production. Apply to skin and hair for about ten minutes before thoroughly rinsing.

The Simplest Way For Whiter Teeth

Do you want pearly whites but can't afford to professionally get your teeth whitened? Well, look no further than your closest grocery store. When you get there, pick up some baking soda! Baking soda is an age-old teeth whitening remedy that is under-utilized since white strips and teeth whitening kits have stolen the show. But, don't sleep on the baking soda method. Simply dip your toothbrush in baking soda then scrub away on your teeth. Stay committed and watch a significant improvement in the color of your teeth. Extra tip: The more saliva you accumulate the better off your teeth will be. According to WebMD, saliva neutralizes the acid that causes tooth decay. If you're going to be at the grocery store picking up baking soda, you might as well also pick up some celery, apples, pears, and carrots as they trigger saliva which helps to wash away food debris on your teeth.

Good luck!

6 Modern Myths About Love {United Healthcare}

We always love reading up on important health tips from our favorite healthcare providers, that we were glad to have stumbled across this article that United Healthcare wrote regarding modern myths about love. Love is special, but often times we fall victim to false love. Read United Healthcare's perspective on modern myths about love and leave a comment below with your thoughts!

6 Modern Myths About Love
How much do you know about matters of the heart?
Zing! With a well-aimed arrow, Cupid can fill your heart with passion. That's how the ancient myth goes.

We may not believe that. But plenty of modern myths about love miss the mark too. Here are six you've probably heard.

Myth No. 1: I have to be in a romantic relationship to be happy.

The real deal: Just one can be fun! Single people can and do live full, happy lives. Their secret? They fill their hearts with what brings them joy and satisfaction — family, friends, meaningful work, hobbies, fitness, etc.

Myth No. 2: All you need is love.

The real deal: Love alone can't conquer all. In relationships that last, loving couples know it's also important to:
Respect one another
Communicate well, positively and honestly
Resolve conflicts in a healthy way
Offer support, comfort and praise
Laugh and be playful together

Myth No. 3: I can change things I don't like about someone.

The real deal: The only person you can change is you! Try to appreciate someone for who he or she is — not your vision of perfection. That doesn't mean you can't share concerns or wishes. But do so as positively as possible — and realize that accepting your sweetheart's quirks and habits is a powerful way to show your love.

Myth No. 4: Possessiveness is a sign of passionate love.

The real deal: It's actually a red flag. If one partner is controlling or jealous — for example, doesn't want the other to spend time with friends or family — it's not a healthy situation.

Myth No. 5: If it's right, it will be love at first sight.

The real deal: You might be attracted to a person instantly. But lasting love is based on knowing someone on a deeper level. And that takes time. You need to share many different experiences — from romantic candlelit dinners to frustrating flat tires — to know if a relationship can go the distance.

Myth No. 6: Romance can't last.

The real deal: Even when life is busy — with kids, work, chores and bills — love can thrive. Sweet gestures, hugs, hand-holding, stolen moments and regular date nights can all help keep your bond satisfying and special.
