5 Ways To Stop Texting While Driving

It's awful, we know. Texting while driving is so incredibly dangerous and puts yourself and others on the road at a major risk, sometimes fatal. We honestly get it; it is so hard not to quickly respond to texts. We live in a world of instant gratification as seen through "likes" on photos, music downloaded in seconds, texts answered in a quickly manner (well, usually!). We have been so trained to get back to friends, family, and co workers so quickly that the thought of waiting to respond to someone is enough to make our anxiety go from 0 to 100 (real quick). In all honesty, IT CAN WAIT. It really can! Here are five (5) ways to stop texting while driving:
  1. Before you start driving, let the people you're currently in a text convo with know that you will be absent from texting them until you reach your final destination.
  2. Sit in your car idle to finish your texting convo before you start your car. This will ease your anxiety and make for a smoother car ride.
  3. If you have a passenger in the car, ask them to type for you. While you're focused on the road, verbalize your text to your passenger since their hands will be free.
  4. Although this option can still add a bit of a distraction, consider talk texting.
  5. When in doubt, just pull over. If you really cannot wait to respond to a text before you get to your final destination, consider pulling over in a safe area to text.
Safe driving!
